Vienna’s coffee scene keeps growing, so let’s take a journey to the coffee places that opened in 2025.
Small batch
In May this small coffee shop opened in the 2nd district at Haidgasse 10. They roast themselves and offer an impressive number of coffees from various origins, which you can drink either as filter or espresso. And if you like what you taste, you can also buy the beans for home. This place also offers a different take on the usual specialty coffee white space paradigm, for me it feels more like a classic Viennese food place, or even a bit like an Heuriger, but with a certain (coffee) twist.

Süssmund Kaffee
Already around for quite some time, the beans of Süssmund Kaffee are available across many coffee shops in Vienna. In May 2025 the roaster opened their own little shop at Rauhensteingasse 12 in the 1st district of Vienna. They offer the usual options of two different Espresso to choose from and freshly brewed filter coffees. Of course, the biggest perk is that you can now buy the coffee beans of this roaster directly from the source.

Salzi
Open since June at Hollandstraße 10, Salzi offers Espresso and a batch brew option, but also a nice selection of coffee beans for home. Depending on the hour of the day you can also order different food options. The biggest plus of Salzi are the opening hours, which go quite late especially closer to the weekend.

Kafana
Kafana is not a new name in the Austrian coffee scene. The owner already operated an amazing Instagram account, posting about different coffee shops in Vienna. In September 2025 he opened his own specialty coffee shop at Heinestraße 35 in the 2nd district. Here you can get coffees roasted by himself but also some other roasters. You can choose between a wide range of filter options but of course also Espresso and milk based drinks.

OTOTO Store & Speciality Coffee
Another familiar name, OTOTO already has a store in the 7th district and opened in July 2025 its second one in Austria at Zirkusgasse 20 in the 2nd district. You can order different filter coffees there to try but also espresso-based drinks. However, the main feature of this store is the great selection of coffee beans, where you can choose different ones from many Austrian roasters including an amazing decaf selection.

Cafe Glas
A little bit more hidden in the Raimundhof Einkaufspassage at Mariahilfer Straße 45, Cafe Glas opened in August 2025. This “hidden” location is also one of the biggest strengths of this coffee shop, since it makes for a very cozy and great atmosphere combined with an impressive glass ceiling. Especially the interior is unique and worth a visit. They offer different Espresso options, but also some batch brew and filter options are available.

The Coffee
Only establishing their first location a year ago, the specialty coffee chain opened in November a second location in the 7th district at Neubaugasse 55. Fans of the coffee already know the drill, you can choose between (rather) dark roasted Espresso or some filter options from the convenience of a touch screen.

Jonas Reindl
Another year, another Jonas Reindl coffee shop. Even though it was a close call since it opened in December. The now 4th location of Jonas Reindl is at Landstrasser Hauptstrasse 21 in the 3rd district. Which is a welcome addition, its also one of the few specialty coffee shops that offers a two storeys place. The offerings are of course from their own roastery, you can choose different Espresso beans to try there as well as filter coffees and batch brews.

More coffee shops
The Viennese specialty coffee scene got 8 newcomers! Even though half of them are known names, the other half are new and some of them even roast themselves, which means more great coffee to try.
The question which one is the best comes down to taste and personal preferences. If you want to try a new roaster in combination with a huge selection, Small batch is the best address. Jonas Reindl in the 3rd and Cafe Glas are probably the ones to go if you are searching for an interesting ambience to sit for a while. But again, all places mentioned here are worth a visit and having a good coffee.
